■Today's Words■　−紅葉−

○hue　：　色合い、色調

『Trees leaves begin to change color, taking on beautiful red, orange and yellow hues.』
「木々の葉がきれいな赤や黄色、オレンジの色合いに色づきはじめたね。」

○like　：　みたいで

『I went to the mountains to enjoy the autumn leaves last week. The view was just like a postcard.』
「先週、もみじ狩りに行ってきたんだ。絵はがきみたいな景色だったよ。」

○turn red　：　紅葉する

『Do you know why leaves turn red in the fall?』
「秋に紅葉するのはなぜか知ってる？」


■Break Time■　−日が短くなる−

秋分の日も過ぎ、ずいぶんと日が短くなった事を感じられるようになりましたね。この「日が短くなる」を英語でどのように表現するか、すぐに思い浮かびますか？
これはとっても簡単で、例えば『The days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting cooler.』、「日が短くなってきて、夜も涼しくなってきたよ。」なんて表現ができます。
逆に「日が長くなる」を表現する場合は『longer』を使えばＯＫですよ。
